Carlow County Council invites applications for the permanent post of Senior Library Assistant.
The Role
The Senior Library Assistant is a frontline supervisory position in Carlow County Council, responsible for supervising a public library branch or section within County Carlow Libraries. The successful candidate will oversee library services, staff, resources, and buildings, reporting to the County Librarian and/or Library Management Team.

* Stock management and collection development skills
* ICT skills, including problem solving, troubleshooting, and knowledge of AI and emerging technologies

* Flexibility regarding working hours, including weekends and unsociable hours
Main duties and responsibilities include:
* General branch duties
* Staff supervision and development
* Ensuring high levels of customer service and responding to queries professionally and promptly
* Supporting change management initiatives
* Customer care and service quality
* Utilizing technology, including IT, financial systems, LMS, and other equipment
* Participating in corporate activities and responsibilities
* Organizing and promoting events, including social media use; health and safety; data collection; meetings; administration
* Supporting project delivery
* Effective communication with members of the public, colleagues, elected members, schools, and communities
* Completing training requirements
* Compliance with Health and Safety legislation and policies
* Deputizing for the line manager when required
* Performing other duties as assigned
Holders may be assigned to different areas as needed.
