Job Description:
Elis is an international textile, hygiene & facilities services business, operating in 30 countries across the globe, delivering a complete textile rental and laundry service. We offer everything from workwear to mats, mops, bed and bath linen, hygiene supplies and pest control services.
The Role:
The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance of all commercial laundry equipment. The maintenance engineer will work as part of a team to ensure the smooth and efficient mechanical/electrical running of the production facility. They will provide support in relation to all maintenance tasks and projects being undertaken, including day-to-day breakdowns, PPM, equipment updates, new installations, and building/infrastructure upgrades. The position requires shift work with the pattern being plant-specific and on-call work to provide cover for emergency breakdowns and shutdown periods. This role will be based in our Dun Laoghaire site.
Responsibilities
* Carry out preventative maintenance on all equipment, ensuring they are kept to a high standard, and provide reactive maintenance to all plant equipment.
* Work closely with production management to ensure all maintenance work is prioritised correctly and carried out in a timely manner.
* Ensure that all breakdowns are resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible.
* Maintain maintenance paperwork and ensure all documentation is up to date and accurate.
* As part of the Engineering team, look to improve equipment performance, reliability, and running costs for replacement parts and consumables.
* Undertake repairs to equipment in a safe and timely manner, ensuring that production is constantly updated on progress.
* Undertake remedial engineering works to equipment or site as instructed by the Engineering Manager.
* Communicate any risks of safety or failure of equipment or site to the Manager.
* Work with the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to ensure that contractors work safely on site and adhere to site Health and Safety rules and procedures.
* Report any incidents, accidents, and near misses in accordance with Health and Safety Policies.
* Adhere to safe systems of work and best practice procedures.
* Maintain good housekeeping standards.
* Follow the company's disciplines, rules, and standards.
* Maintain company assets to achieve maximum efficiency.
* Ensure excellent communication between production staff and co-workers.
* Maintain knowledge of all spare parts on site for plant.
* Work within procedures and standards as determined by the company's written standards.
* Identify, source, and replenish spares.
* Coordinate and supervise contract labour that may be on site.
Knowledge and Skills
* Excellent PLC skills including fault finding and program adjustments.
* Experience with equipment/electrical services/projects.
* Troubleshooting electrical reactive works.
* Instrumentation, pneumatic, and mechanical experience.
* Knowledge of steam boilers, fire systems, intruder alarms, and sprinkler systems.
* Experience with air compressors.
* Ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of management and staff and work as part of a team.
* High attention to detail.
* Decision-making abilities.
* Flexibility and quick reaction to business needs.
* Problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Self-motivated.
* Flexibility to work unsocial hours, possibly including night shifts.
