Location
One permanent part‑time vacancy available for Pharmacist Senior, Antimicrobial in Quality, Risk and Safety (Galway, Mayo and Roscommon). The post holder will work at a community location as agreed with line management at the job offer stage.
Salary
Salary scale (01/08/2025): €75,527 – €87,584. New appointees start at the minimum point; incremental credit is applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a standardised, community‑wide antimicrobial stewardship programme.
* Develop and implement antimicrobial stewardship service improvement initiatives in community settings.
* Collect, collate and validate data from laboratory and clinical sources with a focus on community antimicrobial resistance and infection prevention and control.
* Analyse data, produce routine reports, publications and respond to ad‑hoc queries.
* Provide guidance and feedback on antimicrobial usage to prescribers.
* Deliver training and education to pharmacy, medical and nursing staff in relation to antimicrobial use, resistance and other specialised information.
* Participate in multidisciplinary antimicrobial working groups/committees as required.
* Promote best practice in antimicrobial prescribing to support safe, effective, and cost‑efficient use.
* Support the implementation of Ireland’s National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (iNAP) and subsequent national plans.
* Promote awareness of the “One Health Concept” and its relevance to antimicrobial resistance.
* Develop and update guidelines and policies related to the antimicrobial stewardship programme.
* Manage and supervise support staff and trainees within the community as directed.
* Implement and uphold health & safety policies, comply with HSE and HIQA standards.
* Participate in mandatory and continuing professional development programmes.
* Ensure effective use of information technology for patient care and administrative support.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or eligible to be registered.
* At least three years’ satisfactory post‑registration experience.
* Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in antimicrobial pharmacy and leadership in improving antimicrobial use.
* Proficiency with computer packages (Microsoft Office, Outlook); experience with proprietary data analysis software.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and teaching.
* Evidence of effective planning, organisation, and resource management.
Eligibility Criteria
* Registered pharmacist with PSI (or eligible).
* Minimum of three years’ post‑registration experience.
* Good character and a state of health suitable for regular and efficient service.
* Citizenship: EEA, Swiss or British; or non‑EEA with permission to reside and work.
* Access to appropriate transport to fulfil the role.

Terms & Conditions
* Tenure: permanent, part‑time; pensionable.
* Working week: 35 hours per week (normal weekly hours 17.5). Contracted hours less than standard are paid pro rata.
* Annual leave and superannuation provisions as per HSE policy (details to be confirmed upon contract).
