The GMC Group Quality Manager has overall management responsibility for the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the GMC Integrated Management System (IMS) across the GMC Group, with primary responsibilities for developing the Quality Management System (QMS) within the IMS. The QMS will be developed in accordance with GMC’s contractual requirements and will ensure all quality assurance and quality control processes are in place to achieve both GMC’s and our Clients QA/QC standards and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Quality Assurance: Overall responsibility for the GMC Integrated Management System including maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 27001 certification.
* Develop and maintain the GMC Quality Management System within the IMS.
* Gain a thorough understanding of all clients’ quality standards, specs and requirements.
* Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists, etc. to ensure QA compliance.
* Develop and schedule training programmes focused on quality of workmanship (e.g., electrofusion welding).
* Provide training and guidance to site teams to promote quality awareness.
* Develop a schedule of Technical Bulletins and Toolbox Talks on all quality items to raise awareness and understanding of QA/QC items.
* Ensure all quality reporting internally and externally is completed to a high standard.
* Quality Control: Manage, develop and upskill the QA/QC Advisors working across operations.
* Develop, manage and assist the HSQE Manager with all material testing processes in line with client specifications.
* Liaise with testing laboratories and compile material test results.
* Conduct scheduled site visits and audits to ensure quality standards are upheld.
* Ensure quality records are maintained throughout the construction lifecycle.
* Prepare quality documentation for tender submissions, including Quality Management Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
* Compile and deliver project Safety Files to clients upon completion.
* Monitor and audit subcontractors and suppliers to ensure they are in compliance with GMC standards.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant Engineering Qualification / Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
* Minimum 7–10 years of experience in Quality or Engineering (civil, utilities, or construction experience highly desirable).
* Full, clean driver’s licence essential.
* Strong technical and analytical skills with proven report writing ability.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong IT proficiency (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
