Job Overview:
The Customs Lead is responsible for overseeing daily customs clearance operations, ensuring timely and compliant import/export processes. The role involves managing a team of customs specialists, coordinating with internal/external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with relevant customs regulations to facilitate goods imports/exports.
* Allocate workload/team resources to meet deadlines/service levels.
* Process customs documentation reviewing for accuracy/completeness and in line with company/regulatory requirements.
* Determine/tracking duties/taxes payable and process payments on behalf of client.
* Work with Transport departments (Irl/UK) to review trailer movements for full load/groupage.
* Resolve customer questions/issues via email/telephone in a timely manner/escalate where necessary.
* Compile reports/monitor KPIs relating to the department.
* Maintain records in line with best practice for auditing purposes.
* Provide feedback to management on training needs/staff development for direct reports.
People Management:
* Approve holiday requests in HR management system ensuring sufficient cover/business employees utilise annual leave entitlement.
* Mentor/support direct reports' development.
* Create/maintain employee engagement/culture of continuous improvement.
* Manage performance/conduct behaviour in a timely manner.
* Follow H&S policy/procedures/report defects to Line Manager.
* Promote positive work environment respecting/supporting colleagues in all duties.
* Comply fully with defined policy/processes.
