GL Accountant

The General Ledger Accountant will play a key role in general ledger activities for all of BnM. This position is key for the preparation and reporting of monthly management accounts and reports. The role includes coordination and production of consolidated monthly accounts for the Group and assisting the Finance Operations Manager with all aspects of day-to-day GL activities. Additionally, the role involves supporting the team in completing Grant Administration activities, Project Reporting and other ad hoc finance tasks as well as driving system and process improvements.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:
* Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete. Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments. Review and verify the accuracy of transactions from sub-ledgers and other systems before posting to the GL. Ensure correct coding of transactions.
* Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met. Assist in the preparation of trial balances and supporting schedules for financial reporting. Liaise with internal teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting data. Provide information and explanations to auditors during interim and year-end audits.
* Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with internal control frameworks and financial policies. Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, controls, and documentation.
* Perform month end reconciliations in line with pre-determined schedule ensuring all such recs are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard. Follow up reconciling items with various stakeholders for resolution of same, reporting on all non-reconciled items.
* Collaborate with Commercial Finance Team to ensure accurate financial reports and analysis are provided to enabling services functions, project development and business operations teams on a monthly basis, to include providing insights and explanations on variances.
* All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises.
* Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s objectives.
The Person
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:
* Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
* 1-3 years in GL or Finance Operations role
* Proven experience in GL activities and month-end tasks, process driven with focus on efficiency and standardisation
* Experienced in the use of Excel, PowerBI, Power Query and Oracle.
