You’ll be based in Dublin with flexibility on location in Ireland.My client, a long established multinational utility contractor in maintenance and construction of Electrical and Telecommunications infrastructure, is currently looking to hire a Substation Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. This role involves engineering management on major Power, Renewable & Substation projects, with responsibilities across design requirements, deliverables, and team leadership.Role and ResponsibilitiesTeam Lead and Substation Technical Expert within the Engineering Team. Ownership of electrical substation design: primary design, secondary design, design calculations, procurement specifications.Lead team members, monitor progress against costs and programme. Review and approve team submissions in advance of issue, identifying value engineering opportunities where possible.Support team members on projects as assigned throughout each contract. Take ownership and actively manage substation design projects when required. Identify design risks and propose mitigation techniques.Ensure design outputs meet the required technical, quality and safety standards.Qualifications and ExperienceDegree in Electrical Engineering.7+ years hands-on experience.Good knowledge of software: AutoCAD, ePlan, MS Office; experience with design studies and cable design software is an advantage.Good knowledge of the substation, utilities and renewables sector. Understanding of design/construction interfacing requirements.Good client-facing skills. Ability to work independently and to manage a team.Familiarity with ESB/Eirgrid specifications and design requirements is an advantage. Open to innovation and collaboration.
