Water Project Engineer – Water & Wastewater Infrastructure
Location: Kildare, Ireland.

Salary: €65,000 to €80,000 DOE plus bonus, healthcare, pension and hybrid benefits.
The Company is one of Ireland and the UK's leading infrastructure and engineering contractors and is seeking a Water Project Engineer to join its growing water and wastewater division.
As a Water Project Engineer you will play a key role in delivering mechanical engineering solutions across water and wastewater treatment projects from early design through to commissioning and handover.
You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams—including civil, electrical, process and ICA engineers—to coordinate mechanical design, procurement, subcontractor management, technical delivery and on-site execution while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical engineering design coordination for water and wastewater treatment projects
Carry out site surveys, feasibility reviews, detailed design input and technical assessments
Coordinate with civil, electrical, process, ICA and HSEQ teams to ensure smooth project delivery
Manage procurement and specification of pumps, valves, tanks, pipework and mechanical equipment
Oversee subcontractors and ensure works are completed to programme and specification
Monitor site progress, conduct inspections and resolve technical issues as they arise
Maintain strong client relationships throughout the full project lifecycle
Ensure all works comply with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
Prepare project reports, progress updates, risk assessments and technical documentation
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to engineering best practice
Mentor junior engineers and support team development across live projects
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Project Engineer within the water or wastewater sector
Experience delivering MEICA, utilities, treatment plant or infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of mechanical systems within water treatment environments
Good commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets, timelines and resources
Excellent coordination skills across multidisciplinary engineering teams
Strong problem solving and technical decision-making ability
Knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality standards within construction or utilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office with experience using AutoCAD, Revit or related design software
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Full driving licence required
