We enable our products to analyze vast amounts of data at unparalleled speed, unlocking new capabilities for our customers. We are passionate about the design and optimization of AST‑based runtime systems and foster innovation in both standalone and integrated graph processing environments.
About the Role
A successful candidate will lead multiple priorities with bold deadlines, build high‑quality enterprise applications, and innovate in technical delivery, process, operations and relationships. You will be a leader, coach, and mentor, guiding teams with empathy, inspiring, galvanizing under pressure, and equipping them for success. As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will promote a diverse and inclusive environment where employees are happy, energized, and engaged.
Responsibilities
* Partner and collaborate with multi‑functional stakeholders to prioritize, plan and deliver first‑rate experiences for Workday customers
* Drive the activities of engineering scrum teams delivering innovative features for customers in key markets
* Co‑ordinate the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and improvement of high‑quality Workday product(s)
* Engage with Development, Product, Core Engineering, Research, Agility and Customer Support colleagues
* Help identify, discuss and solve customer issues in increasingly innovative ways
* Understand and promote industry‑standard methodologies
* Coach and mentor team members to help them reach their best, assisting with career growth and personal development
* Personify and promote the Workday values of Employees, Customer Service, Innovation, Integrity, Fun, and Profitability
* Combine strong people leadership skills with deep technical expertise
Basic Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience directly managing engineering managers
* 5+ years of experience building and directly managing impactful engineering teams
* 10+ years of experience with design and development using an object‑oriented language
* Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and fault‑tolerant software
* Proficient in agile methodologies, tools such as Jira, and accustomed to fast‑paced environments
* Proven track record of coordinating the development and delivery of complex software projects in an organized manner
* Bachelor’s degree in a computer‑related field or equivalent work experience

* Proven experience managing technical teams in compiler, runtime, or distributed systems domains is a plus
* Knowledge in object‑oriented runtime systems and metadata‑driven declarative development environments is a strong plus
