The Role:
This role is responsible for the procurement and planning of raw materials supporting both commercial and clinical manufacturing operations. Based in Cork, the position focuses on ensuring materials are available in the correct quantity, at the required time, and at optimal cost, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and robust planning processes across the end-to-end supply chain.
Responsibilities:
* Develop, maintain, and continuously improve systems and processes supporting end-to-end purchasing and materials planning operations.
* Collaborate closely with procurement teams and manage supplier performance and ongoing supplier relationships.
* Build strong partnerships with key suppliers to optimise forecasting accuracy, purchase order execution, and invoicing processes, supporting effective internal and external customer service.
* Manage the full Purchase Order lifecycle, including PO creation, submission to suppliers, updates, queries, and assessment for closure.
* Perform materials planning and forecasting activities using ERP-based MRP, Min/Max systems, and other electronic planning tools, based on consumption trends and production schedules.
* Execute procurement and Material Requirements Planning activities to ensure the timely, compliant, and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials.
* Maintain and update item master and purchasing data within SAP systems.
* Generate supplier performance scorecards and participate in regular supplier review meetings to communicate demand requirements and forward-looking forecasts.
* Monitor supplier performance metrics and report trends, risks, and issues to management.
* Support administrative activities including goods returns to vendors (RTVs) and resolution of purchase order and invoice discrepancies.
Requirements:
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience in raw materials procurement, materials planning, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
* Hands-on experience using ERP systems, with SAP experience strongly preferred.
* Working knowledge of MRP, Min/Max planning methodologies, and demand-driven purchasing models.
* Experience managing suppliers, including performance monitoring, forecasting alignment, and issue resolution.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret consumption data, forecasts, and planning signals.
* High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional internal teams and external suppliers.
* Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical devices, is desirable.
