A Leading Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist is required to lead the full EIA process for large-scale renewable energy developments, including the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) and Natura Impact Statements (NIS).
About the Role
This permanent position plays a critical role in the successful delivery of EIA Reports and Appropriate Assessments for major renewable energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the full EIA process for large-scale renewable energy developments, including the delivery of EIAR and NIS.
* Provide expert environmental guidance to support planning activities and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
* Monitor and interpret changes in environmental and planning policy, contributing to internal strategy and policy submissions.
* Collaborate with stakeholder engagement teams to support effective communication and consultation with local communities and statutory bodies.
* Prepare and manage specifications for third-party environmental services and assist in procurement processes.
* Ensure all activities align with relevant health, safety, and environmental policies, as well as national and EU legislation.
* Mentor and support junior team members, particularly in areas related to EIA and Appropriate Assessment.
* Actively contribute to performance management and continuous improvement initiatives across the planning function.
About You
We are looking for a highly experienced professional with a strong background in Environmental Science or Engineering, who has led the preparation of EIAR and AA/NIS for large-scale development projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-quality EIA documentation.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Honours Degree (Level 8) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is essential.
* A postgraduate qualification (Level 9) in a relevant discipline is desirable.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience leading the preparation of EIAR and AA/NIS for large-scale development projects.
* Proven track record managing multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of EIA documentation.
* Strong knowledge of Irish planning law, environmental legislation, and EIA policy.
* Experience in the renewable energy sector or Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) projects is advantageous.
* Technical expertise in a relevant EIA discipline (e.g., ecology, noise, air quality) is a plus.
