Job Description:
The Office of Children & Family Services (OCFS), Division for Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY), is seeking a licensed psychologist to work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team in a Juvenile Justice residential setting. Responsibilities include:
* Ordering and maintaining testing and assessment materials.
* Supervising testing and assessment by Masters level and unlicensed psychologists.
* Conducting admission screenings, mental status exams, and suicide assessments.
* Performing 30-day assessments, including mental health and substance use screenings, interviews, and record reviews to develop psychosocial assessments and treatment plans.
* Collaborating with psychiatrists and treatment teams.
* Providing individual and group counseling and psychotherapy.
* Conducting psychological testing as needed.
* Serving on the Committee on Special Education.
* Discharge planning.
The psychologist works with youth case managers, staff, education, and medical teams to develop treatment plans focusing on emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Reporting to the Facility Assistant Director for Treatment, the psychologist receives clinical supervision and participates in monthly statewide supervision sessions. DJJOY offers clinical training with NYS Department of Education CEUs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this or an eligible title for 70.1 transfer.
- Must be licensed and registered to practice psychology in New York State and maintain a valid license and registration.
