The R&D Core Business Initiative (CBI) team in Continence Care plays a critical role within Hollister's organization.
The CBI team is responsible for core business projects including design impact changes to the product or processes (Fit/Form/Function) post-product launch, and ensuring quality documents specifications and procedures are adhered to for such changes.
The CBI team is also responsible for supporting Should Cost programmes (cost saving projects), Supply Security projects and Root Cause Investigations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the CBI Continence Care R&D team and will have responsibility for ensuring successful delivery of projects and activities.
They will also work closely with manufacturing globally to support through technical expertise the current base of products in Continence Care.
The successful candidate will have people supervision responsibility for R&D resources covering both scientific and engineering disciplines.
The successful candidate will work closely with other R&D team leaders in Continence Care to ensure the effective allocation of resources to complete the R&D body of work.
The successful candidate must be highly collaborative working with multiple functions and have demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Responsibilities: Core Business Initiatives Project Portfolio –identifying, evaluating and resourcing a range of projects required to ensure R&D support for Current Product Portfolio.
This includes ensuring the correct expertise and knowledge base is available in R&D to support Engineering, Operations and Marketing groups for the current portfolioProject Management –planning, scheduling, documenting and initiating activities of resources you have responsibility for, in collaboration with other Continence Care leaders, to execute the R&D body of work including Core Business projects.
Ensuring successful completion according to agreed upon schedules and corporate priorities.
Taking the initiative in completing critical tasks which lead to progressive movement of projects.
Reviewing technical product documentation for areas of assigned responsibility.People Leadership– providing the overall direction of the Associates within research and development group, controlling organization growth and resource planning.
In addition to recruitment and selection, directing assignments, monitoring performance and career development planning.Health & Safety –maintaining required safety and security compliance, making safety and security an integral part of every task.
Ensuring all Associates have completed the requisite training on safety and security.Budgetary Management –developing and implementing project budgets and cost centre expense plans and controlling and managing the financial plans to ensure cost effectiveness.External Resources– identifying and using appropriate qualified external organizations to supplement in-house capabilities within approved project and operational cost plans and meeting project deadlines.Cross Functional Coordination –maintaining effective relationships with other departments (Tunnel & Funnel R&D, Manufacturing, Engineering, Global R&D, Marketing and Quality Management) to facilitate the introduction of new or improved technologies.
Providing required technical support and expertise to support ongoing corporate projects and to achieve a smooth transition from R&D to New Product Development and ManufacturingEssential Functions of the Role: Confident understanding and application of Medical Device ControlsWork Experience Requirements: 5+ years' experience in a technical role ideally in Research & Development or Process Development rolesEducational Requirements: An honours Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Materials/Polymer Science or Engineering (ideally Polymer/ Biomedical), or related discipline is required.A PhD in these disciplines would be an advantage
Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated leadership capabilities both in terms of strategic direction of a group and people leadershipExpert level knowledge of and proven ability in the supervision and development of AssociatesDemonstrated advanced analytical problem solving abilitiesExceptional organization and communications skillsPrevious experience in technology and product strategy development and execution of research and development projectsGood working knowledge of materials and relevant technologiesProven ability in conducting research and/or development activities, investigating and recommending solutions to problems affecting research and development activities, projects and/or initiativesDemonstrated ability in budget preparation and oversightAbout Hollister Incorporated
