Job Title: General Manager
Industry: Specialist Metal Fabrication – Pharmaceutical Sector

Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Manager to lead a well-established and specialist metal fabrication company supplying the pharmaceutical sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operations, ensuring efficient delivery of high-quality fabricated components and systems to clients in regulated industries.
This is a senior leadership role requiring a balance of strategic insight and hands-on operational management. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering or manufacturing background, proven leadership ability, and a clear understanding of the quality and compliance standards expected within pharmaceutical or similarly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
* Lead and coordinate all site operations including production, quality assurance, project delivery, procurement, and dispatch.
Strategic Delivery:
* Translate company strategy into effective operational plans. Ensure all departments are aligned with business objectives, with a focus on performance, efficiency, and growth.
Team Leadership:
* Manage and mentor departmental leaders across engineering, manufacturing, and support functions. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.
Client Relationship Management:
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with key clients, ensuring consistent delivery of projects to agreed specifications, timelines, and budgets.
Commercial Oversight:
* Support financial planning and cost control measures. Oversee operational budgets and procurement to drive commercial performance without compromising quality.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
* Ensure all operations are compliant with industry regulations and standards, particularly GMP where required. Uphold robust internal quality and safety systems.
Process Improvement:
* Identify and implement improvements across processes, systems, and workflows to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and drive innovation.
Candidate Profile:
* Proven experience in a senior operational or general management role, ideally within a fabrication or precision manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of working within regulated sectors such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or food processing.
* Excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and lead teams effectively.
* Commercially focused with sound judgement and experience in budget management and procurement oversight.
* Committed to high standards of health and safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management or a related discipline.
* A minimum of 10 years’ experience in manufacturing or engineering operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
* Familiarity with pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements, including GMP and ISO standards, is highly desirable.
* Experience implementing continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
