Overview:
Dexgreen is involved in the design and manufacture of fibre optic cable and connectivity components. The company has a growing engineering team and as a result of R&D into new product groups, the company is seeking to recruit an Optical Fibre Test Engineer.
The successful candidate will be trained up to operate a full suite of Optical Fibre Test Equipment and will be working within our Engineering department and report to our Head of Product Development. Once sufficiently trained will have responsibility for maintaining routine test programmes and also working within our R&D Team on new product development.
There is scope for further growth and development of the successful candidate within the company.
Operating Test Equipment –
o General - The successful candidate will be trained in operating industry-leading Telecommunications test equipment. This includes spectrum analysers, fibre optic test devices, various mechanical load test fixtures, environmental chamber (damp heat / humidity testing) and various other items depending on our test requirement
Product Testing and validation –
o Support - Supporting ongoing test programmes on optical fibre cable and connectivity using both in-house test equipment
o New products - Assisting the new product development team on testing new products developed
o Prototypes - Assisting in the preparation of prototypes to be presented to both internal and external stakeholders. This may involve recording installation videos, training videos and various other media required to explain the product’s application
Inspection and Approval –
o Ongoing batch testing – to confirm compliance with our specification and prepare test reports to be presented to the Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Engineer
o New Product approval testing – ensure compliance with test requirements / specifications. Assisting our Engineering department in compiling test reports to bereported to various
o Standard Operating Procedures - Documentation of the protocols and test reports
Technical guides –
o General - For new products we need to produce datasheets and installation guides, also assist in the library of newly created technical and test documentation
o Collaboration – Working with our Marketing team to ensure content developed is complete / accurate
Skills & Requirements
3rd level degree – Degreein Physics, Electrical engineering,Instrumentation. Strong Computer skills and Strong written and verbalcommunication skills required
General – Strong aptitude for problem solving. Experience working in a workshop environment is an advantage. Comfortable with tools and model making
Customer interaction - Ability to liaise with customers.
Organisational skills – ability to work to tight deadlines
IT literate - software: Adobe suite; MS Office suite
Flexible and adaptable - Ability to travel on behalf of the company once settled into the company
