Position overview:
As a Mechanical Operative, you will be a key member of the Waterford Engineering Team supporting the plant's overall business plans and objectives.
Please note this position requires working in a shift pattern.
Your key responsibilities include:
* Operate, repair, and maintain end-making systems and supporting systems.
* Carry out quality checks to the required frequency using the supporting systems.
* Assist in resolving production problems to reduce downtime (MTBF).
* Support Lead Engineers, Toolmakers, Electricians, and Fitters in troubleshooting engineering and technical issues to improve equipment efficiency.
* Participate in continuous improvement activities (CI Cards & Shingo) to meet performance objectives.
* Conduct daily/weekly/monthly checks on tooling, products, and equipment to ensure standards are maintained.
* Identify potential equipment problems and report to supervision.
* Provide training to trainee operators to help resolve equipment downtime.
* Assist during mechanical or tooling breakdowns and maintenance activities.
* Perform tooling maintenance and adjustments to ensure products meet specifications, with engineering guidance if needed.
* Maintain accurate records as requested by supervisors.
* Adhere to plant safety rules, safety manuals, and ensure cleanliness and good housekeeping, including recycling initiatives and 5S practices.
* Maintain company tools in good condition.
* Cover meal and other breaks as required by supervision.
Experience and skills required:
* Interest in and aptitude for mechanics.
* Good communication skills, able to explain processes clearly.
* Fluent in written and spoken English.
