What is the role?

This role in the organisation reflects the increasing importance of sustainability as the business grows. The role is responsible for developing ESG policy and implementing strategies developed through the ESG Council. The role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with ESG regulations and reporting requirements.

What are the key responsibilities?

ESG Council

* Co-ordinate the plans & activities of Aerogens ESG Council, ensuring workstreams are actively pursuing the annual ESG plan.
* Consolidate workstream updates for ESG Council and onward communication.
* Facilitate the development of ESG strategy through the ESG Council

Implement Sustainability Strategy

* Develop, implement and monitor sustainability policies, programmes and initiatives that align with Aerogens ESG
* Strategy, Vision, Mission and Values.
* Conduct sustainability assessment, identifying material issues, setting goals and targets, and developing action plans and indicators.
* Establish ESG operating framework, incorporating ESG awareness and decision making into all aspects of the business.
* Using Materiality Analysis coordinate Aerogens ESG Risk Assessment.
* Coordinate Lifecycle Assessments for determination of Carbon equivalent for Aerogen products.
* Using Science Based decision making, co-ordinate development of Aerogens short, medium and long term Carbon Reduction Goals.
* Through education and awareness, develop a clear plan for engaging all employees on reduction of Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions.
* Develop methods for sharing ESG knowledge across the company, particularly with Commercial colleagues who interact most with customers

Sustainable Innovation

* Coordinate Aerogens interaction with Irelands Health Service (HIHI & HSE) under the EI grant funded Sustainable Medical Device project which is aimed at developing and piloting sustainable alternatives to current medical device packaging, transportation and end of life disposal.

Stakeholder Engagement

* Engagement with various internal and external stakeholders, such as employees, customers (distributor/OEM & Hospitals), suppliers, board of directors, regulators, and communities.
* Understand the needs, expectations and concerns of stakeholders, and communicate Aerogens sustainability performance, achievements and challenges.
* Foster collaboration and dialogue among these stakeholders and solicit feedback and input for continuous improvement.
* Represent Aerogen in relevant Sustainability networks, forums and events related to sustainability.

ESG Reporting

* Preparing and publishing regular and transparent sustainability reports that disclose Aerogens sustainability impacts, risks and opportunities.
* Collect, analyse and verify data and information from various sources, and present these in a clear, concise and consistent manner.
* Follow the best practices and guidelines for sustainability reporting, such as the GRI Standards, the Integrated Reporting Framework or the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).
* Respond to external requests and surveys from customers, rating agencies, media or other stakeholders.
* Prepare ESG communication for business stakeholders, including customers.
* Prepare standardised and vetted responses to typical ESG enquiries from customers, tenders and regulators.

ESG Compliance

* Develop policies, procedures, KPIs and reporting to ensure compliance with growing ESG regulations and national laws, e.g. CSRD, CSDDD, National laws encouraging plastic reduction and recycling.
* Aerogen lead for coordinating annual disclosures under the UN Global Compact.

ESG Education

* Build and deliver programmes to educate and empower employees and leaders on sustainability matters, trends and opportunities.
* Coordinate the rollout of training on ESG topics; e.g. Lifecycle Assessment, Sustainable Design, Circular Economy, Human Rights in the Supply Chain.

What education and experience are required?

* Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science or business discipline, ideally complemented with a postgraduate qualification in Sustainability.
* Min. 8 years industrial or business experience.
* Min. 3 years in ESG role with responsibility for establishing and sustainability policy.
* Experience of coordinating ESG initiatives and projects involving cross functional teams.
* Experience of establishing an ESG operating framework and achieving independent accreditation.
* Experience in an industrial environment would be preferred.

* Proven ability to achieve commitments through cross functional co-operation and influencing, including customers, commercial, technical & operational colleagues.
* Experienced in leading business change for sustainability.
* Strong competency in MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel. Comfortable with data analysis.
