Dairygold Co-Operative Society Limited is now pleased to invite applications for the position of
Laboratory Technician
in the Milk Payment Testing Laboratory in Mallow. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be working with a dedicated team of technicians, laboratory manager and team members
Reporting to the Lab Manager/Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for testing samples accurately in a timely manner and reporting results using the IT systems provided.
Our laboratory is INAB accredited and CLAS compliant. Training will be provided - in-house training, quality assurance system, accreditation process and internal audits.
Core responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
* Carry out Chemistry, Microbiological, Antibiotic/Inhibitor and ELISA analysis.
* Perform tests as directed by the Core Milk schedule.
* Contribute to the effectiveness and improvement of the quality management system.
* Comply with the requirement of the ISO 17025 standard as defined by procedures.
* Complete all day-to-day activities as allocated by the laboratory manager/supervisor.
* Implementation and participation in internal and external proficiency tests.
* Calibration of laboratory equipment and involvement in the set-up, validation and running of new laboratory equipment, including new techniques and cleaning lab instruments and glassware.
* Provide internal and external customers with a first-class level of service.
* Provide training to other laboratory personnel when and if required.
* Receive check samples (non-payment) into the laboratory.
* Accurately recording results, maintaining logs and presenting findings.
* Use of all software systems including Microsoft word and excel.
* Utilise IT technology and Dairygold systems to record results.
* Actively participate in continuous improvement activities including but not limited to 5S implementation, auditing, work groups, PSE.
* Carry out internal audits of laboratory systems and report on findings.
* Where applicable maintain Quality control charts to verify accuracy of testing/ instrumentation.
* Maintain housekeeping levels within the laboratory.
* Adhere to the Health & Safety requirements of the Society.
* Transfer to other sites to complete testing when and if required.
Candidates For This Position Must Possess
* Recognised Science qualification
* Experience in Food/Drinks/Pharmaceutical or Environmental Laboratory is desired.
* Experienced in Chemical, Microbiological, Antibiotic/Inhibitor and ELISA analysis is desired but not essential.
* Computer literate with knowledge of Excel, Word or other MS packages.
* Experience in working as part of a team.
* A positive, can-do, resilient and flexible attitude.
* Organised with attention to detail.
* Ability to multi-task.
* Understanding of Customer service.
