We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing engineering team responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of heavy‑duty mobile machinery used in demanding industrial applications.
This is a key leadership role where you will combine strong technical expertise with strategic thinking and people leadership to deliver innovative, cost‑effective, and high‑quality engineering solutions to market.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of engineers focused on the design and enhancement of heavy‑duty machinery
Oversee multiple concurrent engineering projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards
Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Sales, Service, Marketing, and external stakeholders to ensure customer requirements are fully embedded in product development
Drive the “Voice of the Customer” into product design specifications and ongoing improvements
Manage engineering resources, budgets, and project priorities effectively
Ensure compliance with established engineering standards, safety requirements, and product development processes (including NPPD)
Identify and implement cost‑reduction opportunities, design improvements, and field issue resolutions
Promote standardisation of components and sub‑assemblies across product lines
Provide strong leadership through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and team development
Conduct regular performance reviews and support employee engagement, attendance, and development planning
Ensure engineering operations align with health, safety, and environmental policies
Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and wider business functions
Occasional international travel may be required
Requirements
Degree‑qualified in Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Proven track record in the design, development, and launch of heavy machinery or complex engineered products
Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams
Strong background in project management and supplier management
Experience working at a strategic level within an engineering or manufacturing environment
Proficiency with CAD systems, TMS, and structured product development processes (e.g. NPPD)
Strong leadership and team development capability
Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
Commercial awareness with proven budget management experience
Results‑driven with the ability to deliver against tight project timelines
Technical mindset with a hands‑on approach to problem resolution
Confident decision‑maker with ownership of issues and outcomes
Customer‑focused with strong drive, energy, and commitment to delivery
