We’re currently recruiting a Commissioning Engineer for our client who are experts in utility protection, controls engineering, substation and distribution development and microgrid design. They are recruiting for their Dublin office and have a preference for a PAYE permanent role.
Requirements
* More than 10 years of hands-on experience commissioning power systems, manufacturing generators, and overseeing switchgear and/or control systems.
* Demonstrate substantial expertise with MES/SCADA, PLCs, and industrial networks.
* Exhibit proficiency in SQL databases and programming, along with experience in various industrial protocols like Modbus, Profinet/Profibus, CANopen, J1939, EtherCAT, and MQTT.
* Showcase a strong background in generator and power system controllers, switchgear, generator packaging, CE Marking (or equivalent) standards, and NSAI standards (including I.S.).
* Possess knowledge of IP addresses, network information, and adherence to drafting standards.
* Display strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
* Be proficient in 2-D CAD software, particularly ePlan Electric P8.
* Exhibit proficiency in communication-related software such as Modscan, Modbus Poll, Wireshark, NMap, etc., and industrial automation software packages like TIA Portal, Crimson 3, Proficy, and protective relaying applications.
* Demonstrate expertise with protective relays such as Siemens Siprotec 5, ABB REx, SEL-) series.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the engineering team to review specifications and drawings, leveraging past projects for efficiency and quality management.
* Provide technical support to field personnel, engineering teams, customers, and third-party vendors.
* Offer commissioning and integration support in the field for the installation of products and projects.
* Support UIG maintenance programs covering generation, storage, power assets, switchgear, and controls/SCADA.
* Implement field changes to support engineering and customer requirements.
* Document the final “As-built” configuration and changes post-installation.
* Share “lessons learned” from field integration and maintenance support efforts with the larger engineering team.
* Support GridSure applications both in the field and remotely.
* Ensure timely achievement of schedules and milestone dates.
* Review and validate drawing packages before submission and release.
* Provide coordination and documentation for internal teams.
* Resolve outstanding questions or issues related to the design.
* Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and provide quality engineering designs.
* Communicate effectively in English with engineers, drafters, and manufacturing personnel via phone and face-to-face interactions.
* Contribute to keeping the overall engineering schedule on track, raising red flags early when milestones are at risk.
* Take ownership of program-level design and support efforts.
