The Volunteer Recruitment & Development Coordinator is a proactive, people-focused, and results-driven role within a small, collaborative Volunteer Centre team. The postholder will play a key role in growing volunteering across County Sligo by actively recruiting, matching and placing volunteers, developing new volunteering opportunities, and supporting organisations to engage volunteers effectively.This is a dynamic, outward-facing recruitment and service delivery and development role, involving regular in-person engagement with volunteers, organisations and partners. The postholder will build strong cross-sector relationships, promote corporate and event-based volunteering and lead promotional and income generating initiatives that drive participation and measurable impact. The role offers significant scope for initiative, autonomy, creativity, and tangible results.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Recruitment & PlacementActively identify and recruit a diverse range of volunteers through face-to-face engagement, events, targeted campaigns, and partnerships, ensuring bank of volunteers are available to meet service needs.Engage in person with potential volunteers to understand their skills, interests, and motivations and match them to suitable opportunities.Support volunteers throughout the journey from enquiry to placement, ensuring a positive, high-quality, meaningful experience.Follow up with volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations to ensure placements are working well and needs are met.Maintain awareness of and support annual and once off festivals and events through the collaborative recruitment and management of volunteers.Opportunity Development & PartnershipsActively source, develop and promote new volunteering opportunities across community, non-profit sectors and event organisers.Build and sustain strong relationships with volunteer-involving organisations, event committees and groups to ensure a wide-ranging choice of volunteering opportunities for people with different interests, skills and availability.Co-design volunteering roles with organisations to support the effective delivery of their aims and respond to volunteer demand.Identify and develop partnerships that expand volunteering opportunities, including skills-based, corporate and group volunteering.Promote and support corporate, event-based and short-term volunteering initiatives, attending in person as appropriate.Proactively identify, develop and deliver new income-generating opportunities and initiatives.Volunteer Involving Organisations SupportAdvise and support organisations to recruit, support, value and retain volunteers in line with best practice, quality standards and the Volunteer Charter.Assist organisations to develop and promote volunteer roles and develop their volunteer engagement systems and processes.Act as a trusted point of contact for organisations seeking guidance on volunteering and related capacity building.Promotion, Events & EngagementPromote volunteering and Sligo Volunteer Centre services through direct, face-to-face engagement, events, talks, campaigns and outreach activities.Organise and support volunteering-related events and initiatives, including volunteer recognition and awareness events.Contribute to communications and promotional materials.Represent the Sligo Volunteer Centre confidently at local and national events, networks and working groups.Systems, Quality & AdministrationMaintain accurate, up-to-date records of volunteers, opportunities, organisations and engagements using iVOL / Salesforce CRM systems.Collect, analyse, and use data, stakeholder feedback and market research to inform service development, improve the volunteer experience, measure impact, and support reporting and continuous improvement.Ensure data quality, compliance, and consistency in line with the Volunteer Centre Quality Standards Framework.Use insights from volunteers, organisations and the wider sector to identify opportunities for service growth, innovation, and continuous enhancement.Prepare reports and provide evidence of impact to inform organisational priorities and external stakeholders.Manage own administrative functions and communications to include Salesforce, MS Office etc.GeneralWork flexibly as part of a team ensuring key projects are supported and delivered and that office cover is maintained during published opening hours.Routinely prepare and present statistical and other reports relating to job role as requiredBe responsible for own professional developmentThis job description is not exhaustive and may evolve in line with service development and organisational priorities.
