The Senior Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the company's reputation, engage stakeholders, and support business objectives. This role focuses mainly on public affairs and requires a self-starter with significant knowledge of the Irish political system.
The responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
* Developing and managing the implementation of the public affairs strategy.
* Providing strategic counsel to C-suite executives on key policy issues, legislative changes, and potential risks.
* Overseeing and managing high-impact projects across various public affairs topics.
* Managing relationships with senior officials in government, civil service, trade associations, and other relevant organizations.
* Monitoring and analyzing legislative landscape and government policies.
* Managing the public affairs budget and relationships with communication agencies.
* Developing positions on legislative and regulatory issues and aligning these policies across the business.
* Driving significant projects independently and collaboratively.
* Managing internal and external stakeholders effectively while navigating complex organizational dynamics.
* Developing high-quality briefing and positioning documents, responses to government consultations, messaging, and press materials.
Corporate Communications
* Leading the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies for our brands and retail partners.
* Providing timely and effective responses to emerging issues.
* Responding to media queries promptly and thoughtfully.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
* 5+ years of experience in a communications/public affairs role.
* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Politics, or a related field.
* Experience in developing public affairs strategies aligned with business objectives.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
* Deep knowledge of the Irish political system and experience engaging with senior stakeholders.
* Proven media relations experience, including crisis communication.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills and a track record of effective relationship building at all levels.
* Experience in FMCG and/or retail is desirable.
