Description
The purpose of the role is to prepare and communicate accurate forecast information, used in all areas of the business, to facilitate business and operational planning for Short-term, Medium-term and Long-term outlooks.
Responsibilities
1. Manage the Dublin Airport traffic forecasting:
1. Short-Term – current year forecasting and analysis
2. Medium-Term – budget and schedule creation
3. Long-Term passenger forecasting – creating traffic and flight schedules supporting pricing determination and the infrastructure investment plans of Dublin Airport
2. Monitor, analyse and interpret the forecasts' performance versus actual passengers, ensuring any significant discrepancies are understood and action taken to avoid reoccurrence in a timely and effective manner
3. Drive the continuous improvement of our in-house short-term forecasting model which uses the latest data tools (Machine Learning in R) to produce faster, more efficient and accurate forecasts
4. Monitor and apply the underlying drivers of demand, from both industry and a macroeconomic perspective. This includes working with the relevant teams (e.g. Airport Security, IT, Operations, daai, ARI and Finance) to understand customer behaviour/habits and booking patterns
5. Manage the external stakeholder engagement for any ad-hoc demand forecasting and aviation industry related studies
6. Implement new technology and business intelligence tools to gain competitive insights and ensure the most efficient production of reports/analysis
7. Work with the analysts across daa to help develop and communicate new procedures to improve the quality and scope of data use in the airport. Championing the use of analytics to meet the continuously changing needs of the business, working closely with our data science team.
8. Work with Daa International, supporting their tenders and business with analysis and developing forecasts and scenario modelling to give actionable insight to the team.
9. Keep up to date on relevant developments and best practices in the analytical and forecasting area and bring these into our processes to deliver year on year business improvements.
Provide guidance and analytical support to members of larger Planning team, helping them develop their skill set and promote a data-driven culture
Qualifications
Experience
* 5+ years in analytical/forecasting role
* Experience in the following is a strong advantage:
o Working knowledge of SQL, R and/or Python.
o Expert in using Microsoft Office applications, e.g. advanced formulas and macros
o Knowledge and experience of BI visualization and reporting tools e.g. TARGIT, Tableau.
* Keen interest in aviation industry, its interconnections and challenge
* Extensive experience in managing key business and stakeholder relationships to deliver optimal outcomes

Education & Qualifications
Degree/Diploma/Certification in aviation, data analytics or related fields.
