BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND - WEST REGION PERMANENT & TEMPORARY FULL-TIME ENHANCED/STAFF NURSE JOHN PAUL ADULT SERVICES, BALLYBANE, GALWAY JOB REF: 81479 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Staff Nurse Appointments within the John Paul Adult Services will be made over the next 6 months. Location: John Paul Adult Services provides a combination of campus and community based services to adults with varying support needs, based on personal outcome measures. Our services are currently undergoing a transition from a campus based service to community living, where we aim to create opportunities for the people we support to be valued citizens in their communities and to have everyday life experiences. Our focus is to form a partnership with the people we support and their families to ensure each individual live their best life. We wish to recruit innovative, creative, visionary people who will relish the opportunity to assist in achieving this vision. Candidates need to be flexible and adapt to the needs of particular individual's they support on a daily basis. The Role: To provide clinical nursing skills in supporting people with an intellectual disability in achieving optimum levels of independence. To work as part of a team to ensure a high quality of service is delivered to people supported. To exhibit and maintain the highest quality of nursing practice and apply his/her skills to ensure the physical, social and emotional needs of the people supported in our care are addressed at all times. Be responsible for the provision of nursing care and also be an informed resource for educating and upskilling support workers and family members to the benefit of the people supported. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Service Co-ordinator / Area Manager Qualifications/Experience: A current Live Register Certificate from An Bord Altranais, RNID/RPN qualification is an advantage. One years' experience working with people with an Intellectual Disability is an essential requirement of the post. A full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is an essential requirement of this post. Skills: The successful candidate must have: Good judgement, discretion and confidentiality. The ability to communicate clearly, sensitively, and effectively in both written and verbal forms, and to communicate with family members and work with them for the best outcome for the person supported. Creative problem solving skills. The ability to work independently while recognising when to seek support from interdisciplinary colleagues as appropriate. Patience, flexibility, creativity and eagerness to become involved in a range of activities. The ability to educate and upskill colleagues and family members in positive health promotion needs The successful candidate will be required to co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy, participate in person-centred planning, individual reviews, and team meetings. Also they will attend and participate in training courses, and actively contribute to team based performance management. Working Hours: Permanent post: 75 hours a fortnight based on a Monday-Friday working between the hours of 8.30-17.30. Temporary posts: 75 hours a fortnight based on a 7 day work rota. The successful candidate will be required to work weekends, public holidays and occasional night duty. Flexibility will be required in order to meet service needs. A commitment to providing Senior Person cover within the service is an essential requirement of this post. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 24 days per annum. Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years service respectively. Remuneration: Department of Health Staff Nurse salary scale (01/03/2025) - €36,919 per annum x 11 increments - €53,340 per annum (Maximum). Long Service Increment €54,982 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Department of Health Enhanced Nurse salary scale (01/03/2025) - €43,872 per annum x 7 increments - €55,093 per annum (Maximum). Long Service Increment €56,706 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. As per HSE HR Circular 022/2019 - Nursing and Midwifery - the Enhanced Nurse / Midwife Practice Contract once a staff nurse reaches point 4 on the Staff Nurse salary scale, they become eligible to apply for the role of Enhanced Nurse. Any Staff Nurse who wishes to avail of the Enhanced Nurse role will have to submit an application and also meet the qualifying criteria. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous relevant nursing service. Tenure: These posts are Permanent full-time and pensionable and temporary full-time & pensionable linked to permanent employees on leave. Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer's discretion.
