Responsibilities
Ensure all clinical policies and standards are understood, followed, and embedded in daily practice.
Conduct regular ward rounds with GPs, attend handovers, and oversee day-to-day clinical care to achieve optimal resident outcomes.
Review nursing documentation to ensure timely, accurate assessments, care plans, and evaluations aligned with residents' needs.
Monitor high-risk and clinically unwell residents, providing guidance and support to ensure appropriate management plans are in place.
Oversee safe medication management in line with An Bord Altranais guidelines, including staff competency, audits, and liaison with GPs and pharmacies.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and hands-on support to CNMs, nurses, and care staff, promoting a cohesive and high-performing team.
Manage staff induction, training, appraisals, professional development, and participation in recruitment and roster planning in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
Conduct and oversee clinical, medication, hygiene, environmental, health and safety, and risk audits, ensuring actions are implemented and sustained.
Act as a key point of contact for residents and families, manage and document complaints, and support multidisciplinary collaboration and communication.
Support daily operational management, including roster oversight, staffing cover, hands-on clinical support, and responsibility for the centre in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Requirements
Be registered on the appropriate division of the NMBI live register.
Demonstrate evidence of ongoing Continuous Professional Development.
Have previous management experience within a healthcare setting.
Show a proven track record in clinical healthcare management.
Possess strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and foster a positive team environment.
Show flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
Paid Sundays and double pay on Bank Holidays.
