We are seeking a highly analytical and solutions-driven Project Engineer to support warehouse development, facility re-design, large new customer opportunities, and continuous improvement initiatives across our cold logistics operations in Ireland. This role combines engineering design, project implementation (covering both new development projects & facility remodelling projects), supplier management, and operational improvement within a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Design & Facility Development
Lead warehouse design activities for new developments, facility redesigns, and major customer opportunities.
Analyse customer operational profiles and translate business requirements into effective design solutions.
Identify and recommend suitable material handling equipment, racking systems, conveyors, and automation technologies.
Develop automation calculations, volume flow analyses, presentations, and supporting materials for internal stakeholders.
Create and modify facility layouts and concept designs using AutoCAD.
Produce capital expenditure estimates in collaboration with suppliers.
Support Project Development, Maintenance, and Operations teams with engineering and analytical expertise.
Collaborate with site managers and facilities teams across the UK to develop layouts, project costs, and implementation schedules.
Project Implementation
Support the Head of Engineering in delivering large-scale greenfield and expansion projects.
Work cross-functionally to develop conceptual solutions into detailed operational designs.
Coordinate with contractors and suppliers across lighting, fire protection, refrigeration, and general construction.
Develop implementation plans and project schedules.
Lead facility remodelling and operational improvement projects.
Assist in supplier selection processes by preparing detailed RFPs and evaluating competitive bids.
Analyse supplier proposals using qualitative and quantitative methods.
Monitor supplier performance throughout project execution.
Partner with Regional General Managers and Engineering leadership to drive operational improvement initiatives.
Analyse operational data and map current processes to identify improvement opportunities.
Redesign processes and layouts to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Estimate implementation costs and projected savings.
Support rollout and implementation of operational improvements.
Skills & Experience
3–6 years’ experience in project-related warehouse design.
2–4 years’ experience in project implementation or project management preferred.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with Visio, VBA, and SQL.
Strong understanding of facility layout and warehouse design principles.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills across all organisational levels.
Highly structured approach with the ability to simplify complex processes and workflows.
