Sommelier
you will provide an exceptional guest service experience.
You will be an excellent communicator, genuinely care about guests and take a pro-active approach to constantly develop your wine and pairing knowledge.
You will have a real passion for food and wine, learn and develop the wine list to enabling you to up sell and promote the items by your personal knowledge from the menu and wine list.
You will be a team player, playing a key role in taking direction and supporting the Restaurant Manager and F & B team during and out of service and always creating a memorable experience for our guests.
The sommelier will be responsible for overall wine sales, inventory management, maintaining and developing the hotel's wine lists, training all food and beverage employees within the hotel about wines, creating tasting and cellar show around events for our guests.
The wine Cellar:
Sheen Falls Lodge is home to the largest public wine cellar in Ireland, a fact of which we are unashamedly proud.
We are looking for an individual that will help us not only maintain our current standard but improve upon it.
Is hidden beneath Sheen Falls Lodge, secret stairs lead to our legendary cellar, one of the largest in Ireland.
Celebrated the world over, our impressive wine collection houses more than 10,000 bottles, sourced from 18 different countries.
There are daily tours of this vaulted cavern by our sommelier team and guests can select their own wine from more than 800 labels.
Guests can also experience a private whiskey, Gin or port tasting deep beneath the lodge in the wine cellar.
The Person
2+ year Experience and be capable of working within a quality driven operation
Fluent English both oral and written.
WSET level 3 Awards in wine or Sommelier Diploma or studying towards.
Previous experience in a fine dining hotel restaurant environment.
Good understanding of service within a restaurant.
Great presentation.
Ability to interact with guests.
Upselling techniques.
A well organised approach and be reliable and a team player.
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekend.
Please note this role requires an element of manual handling and someheavy lifting.
