Offer description

Our client is looking for a Registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day care of orthopaedic inpatients and outpatients, with a focus on both elective and emergency trauma cases.
The role involves participation in theatre, clinics, ward rounds, and the trauma call rota, under the supervision of consultant orthopaedic surgeons.
Clinical DutiesAttend and manage patients in trauma and orthopaedic wards, emergency department referrals, and outpatients.
Participate in daily trauma meetings, ward rounds, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
Perform and assist in surgical procedures in theatre under supervision.
Manage acute trauma cases in collaboration with the orthopaedic team and ED staff.
Document patient care accurately in medical records, including operative notes and discharge summaries.
Participate in the orthopaedic on-call rota, including nights and weekends.
Education and TrainingParticipate in weekly teaching sessions, journal clubs, and departmental audits.
Engage in continued professional development (CPD) and maintain logbooks of procedures.
Supervise and support junior doctors and medical students.
Audit and ResearchParticipate in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, and research initiatives within the department.
Present findings at departmental meetings and national/international conferences when appropriate.
Required Qualifications and ExperienceMedical degree from a recognised institution.
Full registration or eligibility for registration with the Irish Medical Council.
Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience, including at least 12 months in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
Completion of Basic Surgical Training (BST) or equivalent preferred.
Key CompetenciesExcellent clinical knowledge and surgical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Time management, decision-making, and leadership abilities.
Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice
DesirableMRCS or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Experience in audit, teaching, or research.
Interest in pursuing a career in orthopaedic surgery.
