Job Title: MRI Safety Officer, Clinical Specialist Radiographer Location: South Dublin Job type: Permanent, full-time, 35 hours per week across 5 days. Excel Recruitment are proud to present an exceptional opportunity to join one of Ireland's most advanced and progressive Radiology departments in south Dublin, as an MRI Safety Officer / Clinical Specialist MRI Radiographer. This is an excellent job opportunity for a highly skilled MRI Radiographer looking to influence MRI safety strategy, develop and implement policies, and deliver high standards of clinical excellence in a leading hospital in South Dublin. The successful candidate: This is not just a clinical role, it's a leadership opportunity. You will work clinically and work on the MRI safety standards and policies. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to establish and uphold best practices in MRI safety. You'll be at the forefront of designing and refining safety policies, leading education initiatives, managing risk, and ensuring full compliance with international MRI safety standards. Simultaneously, you'll play a critical clinical role in delivering safe, high-quality MRI services. This is an ideal role for someone looking to: Influence and shape the MRI safety culture in a high-performing radiology department. Lead strategic service development and continuous quality improvement. Collaborate with outstanding colleagues in a dynamic, technology-led environment. Gain exposure to diverse imaging subspecialties with cutting-edge equipment. Key Responsibilities: Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of MRI safety standards, protocols, and risk mitigation strategies. Develop, document, and maintain robust MRI safety policies in line with international best practice (e.g., ACR, IR(ME)R, MHRA). Oversee the day-to-day MRI safety operations, ensuring a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors. Chair and participate in MRI Safety Committee meetings. Deliver ongoing MRI safety training and annual safety refreshers to all relevant personnel including clinical, administrative, and ancillary staff. Maintain accurate records of safety briefings, policy sign-offs, incidents, audits, and compliance metrics. Provide expert input on MRI equipment selection, safety zones, signage, emergency planning, and project expansion. Clinical MRI Excellence Provide advanced MRI scanning services across a wide range of specialities. Contribute to MRI protocol development, clinical audits, and QA programs. Support staff rotation, scheduling, and upskilling within the MRI team. Supervise, mentor and train junior radiographers and students. Collaborate closely with Radiologists, Physicists, and Radiology Management to ensure excellence in patient care and departmental performance. Eligibility Criteria: BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography (or equivalent), recognised by CORU. Minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience in MRI. Postgraduate qualification in MRI (essential). Completion of a recognised MRI Safety Officer course (desirable but not essential-support may be provided). Proven ability to lead policy development and service improvement initiatives. Strong knowledge of MRI safety regulations and best practices. Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills. Experience in training and supervising MRI staff.
