Amazon Web Services is hiring a Sr. Product Design Engineer for the Electrical Products and Services engineering team. This electrical product focused team is a part of a global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation of products used within our rapidly expanding data center footprint.
The Electrical Product Engineering team at Amazon works to design and develop resilient, cost‑effective electrical distribution products and systems. Engineers at Amazon are responsible for achieving world‑class uptime for our customers, justifying and communicating technical decisions to Sr. Management, and driving continuous advancements and improvements with our designs.
Key job responsibilities
Supports the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop innovative concepts into new power‑distribution products for data center.
Leads new product design and development, working with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input.
Collaborates with other disciplines such as mechanical and structural engineering, reliability, QA/QC and compliance to create well‑thought‑out products.
Creates designs that meet or exceed quality requirements while delivering a return on investment.
Works with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment, devices and bill of materials.
Ensures compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries.
Prepares, reviews and approves product designs and drawings including electrical bill of materials, configuration, layouts, assembly, construction and wiring drawings.
Defines project scope and provides technical support for information requests prior to and during manufacturing phases.
Works with field engineering and commissioning teams to set up test processes and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
Works on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
Supports operations including failure‑mode and root‑cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review.
Leads within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.
Provides creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions while having fun.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities
Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering or Architectural License
Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
