About the Company: DPD Ireland leads the field in next day parcel delivery throughout Ireland, with 36 regionally based collection and delivery depots and a state of the art central sorting hub in Athlone, Co.
Westmeath.
Purpose of the role:
We are currently recruiting a Transport Supervisor for the Day shift and Night shift in the Linehaul Team.
The Transport Supervisor is a key role within this growing and developing operation.
The primary function of the role is planning the transportation of parcels between the hub and the depots and customers in the most efficient way, analysing and manipulating the data available to enable the effective planning of resources.
The successful candidate will report to the Transport manager.
Job Responsibilities:
Developing forecasting models to predict and analyse freight volumes, patterns and staffing requirements
Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures in conjunction with union labour agreements in regard to staffing actions
Monitoring vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with safety standards
Leading and managing a team and conducting performance reviews
Developing succession plans for the team
Covering holidays and standing in for the Transport Manager
Promoting our company values in their day to day activities
Assisting the management of the transport operation to the satisfaction of the company, maintaining the required service levels within budgetary constraints and operational targets
Addressing disciplinary issues with staff on the shift
Planning and co-ordinating employee training and development through cross training and other company initiatives
Conducting quarterly partnership reviews
Responsible for all activities for all international parcels and group correspondence including responsibility for the service planner

Experience Required:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in transport or logistics operations.
Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
Qualifications Required:
Diploma or equivalent
Qualifications Preferred:
Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus.
Transport qualifications / CPC in road haulage transportation management
Skills Required:
Supervisory experience with the ability to solve problems in a fast moving environment.
Previous experience of people - management and demonstrated ability in people motivation, organising and team building.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and meet critical deadlines.
Excellent written, verbal, analytical and communication skills.
Software skills, including Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
Hands on, can-do attitude.
Skills Preferred:
Strong understanding of transport regulations and safety standards.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Proficient in using transport management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions.
