Job Title: Fire Safety Engineer
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Fire Safety Engineer or Health & Safety professional to join the Capital Projects Division of a semi-state organisation in Cork and Kerry.
Main Responsibilities
* Regular inspections of buildings, means of escape and all fire-fighting equipment to ensure they are properly located, well-marked, in good repair and in good working order.
* Reviewing and drawing up fire orders, including evacuation schemes for various types of building and institution.
* Regular and routine inspection of places, premises and equipment that present a special risk of fire and reporting any breaches of the fire prevention code.
* Arranging regular fire drills in each location and ensuring they are properly carried out.
* Monitoring water supply to ensure it is sufficient for firefighting purposes.
Quality Control and Risk Management
* Ensuring quality control measures are implemented on site and aligned with the overall BCAR plan for the project.
* Advising on interpretation of Fire Protection Standards and Building Regulations.
* Implementing fire prevention work programmes under the direction of the Engineering Manager.
* Monitoring and reporting on management of Health Safety and Infrastructural Risk issues.
Ideal Candidate
* Level 7 HETAC qualification in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Construction, Health & Safety or Architecture or related discipline.
* 2 years experience in a Health & Safety or Fire Engineering role.
* Strong numeracy and report writing skills.
* Ability to formulate plans and execute in line with budget and timeline.
* Ability to make informed decisions and know when to escalate.
