Responsibilities
The General Manager ensures that the REO has the necessary support available to enable them to fully discharge the functions of the role.
Managing the administration and business generally of the HSE requires the REO to be supported in the discharge of their functions, and in the oversight of work which they have delegated to their direct reports (or to other senior managers).
It also requires the REO's office to operate at a high level to be effective in the organisation of his/her time and to manage all of the commitments of the EMT and others locally.
These meetings require significant advance preparation and it is the responsibility of the Office of REO to ensure that the REO is furnished with all required papers, including concise summaries of key information and up-to-date data and that they are fully and accurately briefed well in advance of any required attendances.
Managing correspondence will be a key function.
There are also significant demands on the REO's time outside of these core meetings, including individual meetings with EMT members and senior officials, clinicians, elected representatives, and with organisations funded by the HSE, regulatory bodies, other state bodies and with key stakeholders – including members of the public.
