We’re partnering with a well-established organisation undergoing a major digital transformation and looking to hire an IT Development / Software Lead to shape the next phase of its technology journey. This is a high-impact leadership role reporting to the CTO, combining hands‑on technical leadership with people management, platform modernisation, and AI‑driven software delivery.
The Opportunity
You’ll lead a team of developers while driving the transformation of a legacy estate into a modern, cloud‑first engineering environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building high‑performing teams, improving delivery standards, and embracing emerging technologies such as AI‑assisted development and LLM‑powered automation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of software engineers in a fast‑paced delivery environment
Own and improve the end‑to‑end SDLC, embedding CI/CD, automation and engineering best practice
Drive cloud migration and modernisation initiatives across Azure environments
Oversee retirement of legacy platforms and transition to scalable cloud‑native solutions
Champion the use of AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or similar) to improve developer productivity and quality
Promote an open‑minded, forward‑thinking approach to AI and LLM technologies, including the creation of agentic solutions and workflow automation
Establish governance for AI‑generated code covering security, QA and compliance
Work closely with senior stakeholders on roadmap planning, budgets and delivery priorities
Manage third‑party vendors, contractors and internal engineering teams
What We’re Looking For
10+ years in software development, with 3+ years in a Lead / Head of Development / Engineering Management role
Strong technical background across modern stacks such as .NET, Node.js, Python, React, TypeScript
Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and scalable architecture
Experience introducing or scaling AI‑assisted software development practices
Passion for innovation and curiosity around LLMs, AI agents, automation and next‑gen engineering tools
Strong commercial awareness, stakeholder management and leadership capability
Nice to Have
Exposure to serverless, APIs, event‑driven architecture or FinOps
Experience implementing enterprise AI governance frameworks
