Purpose of the Role
The post holder will be a senior strategic and operational supporter for the Infection Prevention and Control agenda across Children’s Health Ireland. They will serve as a clinical expert in IPC, practice at an advanced clinical level, exercise high judgement, discretion and decision‑making, and work autonomously. The post holder will represent Children’s Health Ireland on external groups and advisory bodies as required.
Eligibility Criteria
* Registered, or eligible for registration, in the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
* At least 7 years post‑registration experience, of which 3 must be in the specialty of infection prevention & control, at a minimum of CNM 2/Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 or equivalent in an acute healthcare environment. Desired experience in paediatrics.
* Completed a post‑registration programme of study, certified by the education provider, achieving a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 8 or higher award maintained by Quality & Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) or equivalent ECTS credits.
* Demonstrated evidence of continuous professional development.
* High standard of suitability and clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative capacity for the duties of the office.
* Maintain live annual registration in the Register of Nurses and Midwives and confirm annual registration with NMBI to CHI.
Health and Character Requirements
* Full competence and ability to undertake duties with a reasonable prospect of efficient service delivery.
* Good character.
