Department Overview
Audit Services provides assurance on operational, financial, compliance, risk management, and governance processes, applying independent judgment to protect and enhance Northern Trust’s risk and control culture.
Role Overview
The Asset Management and Wealth Management (AMWM) Audit team provides assurance over Northern Trust’s global wealth and asset management activities. The Associate Auditor reports to a Senior Audit Manager, executing audit work in line with standards, budgets, and timelines while identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Review key risks and controls within assigned business areas.
Execute audit testing, document results, and evaluate the effectiveness of controls and the overall control environment.
Develop a working knowledge of Northern Trust’s Audit Methodology.
Participate in meetings with audit stakeholders and business unit management.
Assist with audit planning activities, including walkthroughs and process flow documentation.
Apply analytical and critical thinking skills to identify potential control weaknesses and risk themes.
Skills & Attributes
Strong interest in the financial services industry, especially internal audit and risk management.
Interest in pursuing professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, IIA.
Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned work.
Experience & Qualifications
A degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
Entry‑level audit experience within a financial institution is beneficial but not essential.
