The Role
The role of Vision Engineer is an exciting position within NEP Ireland Engineering, working on a range of NEP projects with our fleet of IP, UHD and HD outside broadcast trucks, fly‑pack systems, and Broadcast Centres. Under the expert guidance and mentorship of our highly experienced Senior Engineering team, you will continue to grow your professional skills and experiences, with the aim of progressing to a Guarantee Vision Engineer, capable of being the lead Vision Engineer on many of our broadcast facilities.
You will work with our IP, UHD and HD outside broadcast trucks, fly‑pack systems and Broadcast Centre facilities.
You will play a pivotal role as part of a team, utilising our diverse and scalable combinations of traditional, remote, centralised and cloud‑based workflow, capturing, recording, broadcasting and streaming high quality content for our prestigious client base. This will be enabled by NEP broadcast centres, data centres, venue kits, truck and flypack facilities, not just in Ireland but around the world.
Responsibilities
Be part of a team responsible for vision control operations.
Assist the Guarantee Engineer in the delivery of outside broadcasts, both at our base in Kilcoole and onsite at various locations, domestically and internationally.
Work effectively in a team with other Vision Engineers to deliver external vision rigs on outside broadcasts.
Assist in the build and deployment of fly‑pack systems, under the guidance of a Senior Broadcast Engineer, from a client specification.
Follow up faults and assist in the maintenance of our fleet and facilities.
First‑line fault‑finding and repair of a range of broadcast and AV audio and video equipment; minimising loss of service at times of equipment failure by rapidly identifying and implementing temporary workarounds.
Interpret and implement instructions and requests from clients, producers, directors and other colleagues.
Skills / Qualifications
Either
HND level (or equivalent) in a relevant technical or scientific discipline;
Vocational qualification in a media technology field;
Evidence of suitable in‑work learning and development, complimented with relevant practical and theoretical training.
Previous experience working in outside broadcast facilities as a Trainee Engineer or Engineer would be beneficial.
Base level knowledge of outside broadcast truck / fly pack workflow is preferred.
Knowledge and experience IP systems would be an advantage.
An awareness of Health & Safety.
Desire to advance to a senior audio engineering role.
Developing communication and client facing skills.
Good time management skills and ability to work to very tight deadlines and a flexible attitude.
Logical thought processes: ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to use initiative; meticulous attention to detail; pro‑active and self‑motivated.
This position will include travel and evening/weekend working. All applicants must be prepared and able to travel internationally. A full clean driving licence is essential.
