Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Credit Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and monitoring credit accounts, ensuring timely collection of payments and minimizing bad debt exposure.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of credit management and collection procedures, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage and monitor outstanding balances, ensuring that overdue payments are collected promptly.
2. Review credit applications and conduct thorough credit checks on new customers.
3. Set credit limits for customers based on credit risk assessments.
4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer account records.
5. Chase outstanding debts by phone, email, or letter.
6. Negotiate payment plans with customers experiencing financial difficulties.
7. Work with legal teams on escalating overdue accounts to legal action when necessary.
8. Ensure collections are in line with company policies and payment terms.
9. Reconcile customer accounts to ensure all payments are accounted for and discrepancies are addressed.
10. Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and customer queries in a timely manner.
11. Prepare and present weekly/monthly reports on overdue accounts, bad debts, and cash flow to the finance team.
12. Provide insights and analysis on payment trends and customer credit risk.
Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (preferred but not always required).
* Proven experience as a Credit Controller, Debt Collector, or in a related role.
* Strong knowledge of credit management and collection procedures.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure and handle difficult conversations.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office (especially Excel).
