Job Purpose
To enhance the quality of life of each resident by providing individualized holistic care, promoting independence, and communicating effectively with residents and the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Deliver quality care to each resident.
Assist residents with intimate and personal care based on assessed needs.
Assist residents with eating and drinking where appropriate.
Promote and encourage a normal nutritional diet.
Assist residents with mobilizing.
Assist with diversional therapy i.e., activities, movement to music, etc.
Assist nursing staff with all resident care and care of the dying.
Be familiar with infection control.
Report changes in residents' condition to senior nurse on duty.
Ensure nighttime sleep patterns are not disrupted by noise or light.
Document required records in the course of duty.
Health & Safety
Provide close supervision day and night for high‑dependency residents.
Follow health & safety policies within Nazareth Care Ireland.
Report faulty equipment (lifting hoists, bath hoists, etc.).
Use transfer slide sheets, handling belts, and hoists with a second staff member.
Understand evacuation and fire procedures.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Have FETAC Level 5 and/or other relevant training.
Previous experience caring for elderly, preferably in a residential setting.
Adopt a person‑centered approach to care planning.
Experience working in a team setting.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
Effective communication at all levels.
Genuine interest in caring for older people.
Positive attitude, open to changing needs within Nazareth Care Ireland.
Participate in care planning with nursing and relevant staff.
Proficient in manual handling and patient moving skills.
