We are hiring Staff Nurse - Pre-Screening/Admissions Clinic into our Hospital in Galway, Ireland.
This is a permanent, part-time position of 23 hours per week.
Responsibilities Receive referrals to the Pre-Surgical Clinic (PSC), assessing and reviewing each referral to determine patient eligibility for admission in line with agreed criteria.
Schedule patient appointments promptly using the Meditech scheduling system, ensuring timely and accurate correspondence is issued to patients.
Liaise with multidisciplinary departments, including physiotherapy, radiology, and medical secretarial teams, to coordinate and streamline the patient pathway through the PSC.
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including but not limited to ECG recording, BMI calculation, phlebotomy, microbiology swabs, and nursing assessments.
Manage clinic resources effectively to support safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
Collect and review monthly performance metrics, contributing to audit activity and quality improvement initiatives.
Support patients and their families throughout the admission process, providing information, reassurance, and guidance.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with referring consultants and secretarial staff, ensuring clear, timely, and professional communication.
Requirements Current registration in the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) register.
A minimum of five years relevant post-qualification nursing experience.
Proven clinical, managerial, and administrative competence to effectively fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) appropriate to the level of the post.
Demonstrated ability to lead clinical practice, drive service quality, and support continuous improvement.
Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload and priorities effectively.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build, develop, and maintain effective professional relationships.
Highly developed communication and influencing skills, enabling effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
