Overview
An established communications consultancy is seeking an Account Director to join its healthcare team in Dublin. This is a senior client-facing role focused on delivering strategic communications programmes for a range of healthcare and pharmaceutical clients.
The role will suit someone with strong agency or in‑house communications experience in healthcare, corporate communications, or public affairs, and who is comfortable advising senior clients, leading integrated accounts, and operating in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the day‑to‑day management of key healthcare and pharmaceutical client accounts, ensuring excellent delivery and high client satisfaction.
Provide senior strategic counsel to clients across corporate communications, media relations, issues management, stakeholder engagement, and reputation.
Develop and oversee integrated communications plans aligned to client business objectives.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients on external communications in complex and regulated environments.
Lead the development of messaging, narratives, media materials, briefing documents, and strategic content.
Drive account growth by identifying opportunities to expand existing relationships and contribute to new business activity.
Manage account teams effectively, providing direction, support, and development to junior colleagues.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard.
Build and maintain strong relationships with media, industry stakeholders, and relevant external audiences.
Monitor sector developments, policy changes, and reputational issues relevant to healthcare and pharmaceutical clients.

Key Requirements

Significant experience in communications, ideally gained within an agency environment or in a relevant in‑house role.
Strong background in healthcare communications, corporate communications, pharmaceutical communications, or related sectors.
Proven ability to manage senior client relationships and provide confident strategic counsel.
Experience leading integrated communications campaigns and corporate reputation programmes.
Excellent understanding of the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or life sciences landscape, including the challenges of communicating in regulated settings.
Strong media relations experience, with the ability to develop stories and manage press engagement appropriately.
Excellent writing, editing, and messaging skills.
Commercially aware, with experience contributing to account growth and new business development.
Strong project management and team leadership skills.
Ability to work at pace, manage competing priorities, and maintain attention to detail.

Desirable

Experience working with pharmaceutical, biotech, medtech, or wider health sector clients.
Exposure to public affairs, policy communications, patient advocacy, or stakeholder engagement work.
Understanding of communications compliance and approval processes within healthcare or pharma.
Experience supporting Irish, UK, or international healthcare communications programmes.
