Role Purpose: Parcels are a key strategic growth area in the business and contract parcels have more than tripled over past 5 years and continued further significant growth needs to be planned for. Additionally, the level of complexity and speed of change has been accelerating, with customs changes, surcharges and ongoing on-boarding of large customers, with their own specific requirements. This area is dynamic & fast paced, a key contributor to maintaining strong cash-flow and responding to a complex and growing customer base. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager An Post Commerce Revenue, in this role you will lead Parcels Revenue & AFRS (Annual Fee Response Service) Teams and will be primarily responsible for Parcels & AFRS billing and collections. You will promote financial and timely performance by assuring the integrity of financial results, developing robust billing processes & Finance systems, while also. ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with all statutory obligations. The role will have a strong emphasis on optimising revenue, strong credit control, staff development, systems improvement & involvement in strategic projects. In addition, the Finance Manager Parcels & AFRS will provide a value-added service to the Finance & APC Management Team. Responsibilities The principal responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following; Ownership of end-to-end Parcels & AFRS Revenue month-end, quarter end and year-end procedures to ensure complete, timely and accurate reporting, of all Parcels & AFRS Revenue streams, to be included in the An Post management accounts. Review of inputs to month-end, quarter end & year end reporting including the preparation, review and presentation of financial analysis and commentary. Support Senior Finance Manager & wider Parcels & AFRS Revenue team, to ensure prompt payment of all outstanding liabilities, with particular emphasis on control & reporting of debtors days and working with customers to ensure correct information flows and automation in place, to support on-time payment. Review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and follow-up and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner. Co-ordinate the design and upgrading of Parcels & AFRS Revenue systems. Continuing involvement in changes to organisation and systems to ensure easier transitions, including project management, testing and training, when required. Provide specialised knowledge and technical skills to support business change projects within Parcels & AFRS Revenue including, systems development, standardisation & automation. In conjunction with the Commercial Team prepare Parcels & AFRS Revenue budgets and forecasts, as required. Assist the APC Commercial Management in relation to financial tasks. Also provide support, especially in relation to ad-hoc requests for information or advice on how to best generate information from the systems. Attend Regular meetings to circulate information and train in new processes/procedures. Manage the Parcels & AFRS Finance Revenue teams (10+ direct reports), providing mentoring and support in their roles, ensuring they all have clear accountabilities and receive appropriate development & training both internally & externally. Documentation of end-to-end processes to maximize efficiency and reduce misstatement risk in reporting. Operate within the required controls framework, oversight of control procedures. Compile & control returns from various sources within Parcels & AFRS Revenue, produce consolidated data/results and escalating issues or variances as necessary. Addressing ad-hoc queries and participating in projects as required. To effect Corporate Governance requirements and compliance within An Post by promoting awareness of control requirements at all times. Advocate and actively demonstrate An Post core values and behaviours. Knowledge & Experience The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 2-5 years post qualification work experience in Revenue Accounting & Credit control, along with a strong background in change management & system improvement. You will also have proven experience of leading and developing a sizeable high performing team. The ability to make informed quality decisions as a result of monitoring, analysis, challenge and debate is critical. You will be a flexible thinker and a strong communicator with the ability to simplify complex messages, and influence key stakeholders. It is essential that you can effectively manage a team, work within strict deadlines & demonstrate an ability to understand, energise and coach others. They will have a detailed knowledge of An Posts Revenue reporting systems, or the ability to acquire this quickly and comprehensively.
