Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Job Purpose: To support the finance and office team in managing the financial operations of a busy plumbing and heating business. This includes processing supplier invoices, assisting with payroll, managing customer and subcontractor accounts, and ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process purchase invoices from plumbing and heating suppliers, ensuring correct job costing.
* Reconcile purchase orders and delivery notes with invoices; flag any discrepancies.
* Raise and send sales invoices for completed domestic and commercial jobs.
* Monitor and follow up on outstanding customer payments.
* Perform bank reconciliations and maintain daily cash flow records.
* Assist with payroll processing, including timesheets for engineers and apprentices.
* Maintain subcontractor records, ensuring CIS compliance and accurate submissions.
* Assist with VAT returns.
* Maintain accurate records for heating installations, boiler servicing contracts, and job tracking.
* Liaise with engineers, suppliers, and clients to resolve invoice and payment queries.
* Support the finance team during month-end and year-end processes.
* General admin support including filing, data entry, and system updates.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles.
* Proficiency with accounting software.
* Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
* Good communication skills comfortable dealing with tradespeople and clients.
* Able to work independently and manage time effectively in a busy office.
* Willingness to learn and adapt within a dynamic trade environment.
Desirable:
* Experience in the plumbing, heating, or construction industry.
* Working towards or holding an AAT qualification or similar.
