Grid Engineer Newbridge BnM is seeking a candidate with strong electrical expertise to support the Grid Team and the broader business. The role involves contributing to various stages of electrical infrastructure development on BnM projectsincluding project specification, design and design reviews, procurement, construction oversight, and performance testing. The ideal candidate will ensure that electrical systems and services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with technical and regulatory standards. The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following: Provide professional, cost effective and value adding electrical engineering services within Renewable Energy Business Unit. The candidate should possess a strong knowledge of electrical engineering and in particular practical experience of managing connections to the Irish transmission system. Lead the delivery of Grid Team projects, ensuring efficient delivery of works and services. Management of interactions with System Operators, electrical and civil contractors, and other key stakeholders. Actively participate in team and project meetings to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget as well as in compliance with statutory safety and health regulations. Management and coordination of project energisations, construction related grid works (site based) and grid code compliance testing for renewable energy projects. Lead engineering and optioneering processes to derive optimal grid connection solutions. Oversee and manage technical analysis of power flows, network capacity, electrical constraint and curtailment, ensuring insights are effectively disseminated to identify the most commercially viable grid connection option. Ensure project compliance with Grid Code requirements by actively monitoring updates to Grid Code, System Operator requirements, connection policies, applying relevant changes to facilitate smooth delivery and energisation of renewable energy projects through to achieving operational certificates. Management of technical projects through various phases of the project lifecycle. Prepare and manage technical project tenders and contract documentation, actively monitoring, controlling and optimising costs. Oversee and analyse all aspects of design, manufacturing, processing, construction, operation and maintenance to ensure compliance with project requirements, including obligations under grid connection agreements. Identify and coordinate stakeholders throughout project phases, ensuring key performance indicators are met. Facilitate timely, clear and effective information exchange among stakeholders to ensure deliverables are well understood, whilst proactively monitoring and addressing risks and opportunities to optimise project outcomes. Continuously track progress against project plans, implementing corrective actions where necessary to mitigate overruns and ensure cost effective delivery of professional engineering services. The Person: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes: Qualifications: Honours Degree (Level 8 FETAC) in Electrical Engineering (mandatory); Full, clean Irish or EU driving licence. Experience: Minimum of 2 years' industry experience working on grid connections at transmission level within Ireland. Demonstrated experience in the design, planning, and specification of transmission-scale electrical installations. Proven involvement in early-stage project development and optioneering of grid connection solutions for renewable energy projects. Technical Knowledge: Strong technical background in HV electrical design and consenting for 110kV, 220kV, and 400kV substations, underground cables, and overhead line infrastructure. Skilled in reviewing and validating third-party designs. Familiar with project, contract, and financial management processes related to electrical infrastructure. Tools & Systems: Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design tools such as EPLAN, PSSE, and DIgSILENT is advantageous. Skills & Attributes: Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
