Automation Strategy Manager
This is a senior management role accountable for developing and implementing a robust Automation strategy across the site. The role will bring together the appropriate technology, process, and workplace solutions to contribute to overall Operations (Manufacturing, Plant Maintenance, Smart Factory, and Quality).
Acting as the 'owner' of the Automation environment on the site, you will ensure that the environment grows in accordance with the OT strategy.
This key role requires excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, interacting with all organizational levels to manage competing priorities objectively and in line with the overall business strategy.
Responsibilities
1. Operational Technology Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and maintain the OT Strategy and Roadmap for the site, including Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory (digital) opportunities. Develop detailed standards supporting the OT strategy.
2. OT Project Governance: Ensure all projects involving OT adhere to the site strategy. Ensure third-party suppliers, system integrators, and service providers follow OT standards. Oversee technical solution design, evaluation, delivery, commissioning, and validation.
3. OT Lifecycle Management: Accountable for lifecycle management of infrastructure, applications, and services. Develop and implement strategies for retaining, retiring, and replacing applications. Responsible for maintenance, compliance, and availability of OT systems.
Education Required
* Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Engineering or Computer Science) is required.
Knowledge
* Leadership and people management skills.
* 10+ years of experience in a technology function within operations or manufacturing environments.
* Experience in delivering and managing automated systems, with knowledge of GAMP software lifecycle, ANSI/ISA-S88, S95, PackML standards, and development methodologies for utility, process, and packing control systems.
* Experience managing a large portfolio of systems, projects, and initiatives in Information Systems, Automation, and Operations.
* Experience with automation systems in cGMP regulated manufacturing environments, including FDA cGxP and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations, and software system validation. Knowledge of Siemens PLC, SCADA, and OSIsoft Pi Data Historian is desirable.
* Proven ability to lead service providers remotely.
* Strong communication skills to simplify complex technical and business challenges.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement, project management tools, and phases.
* Ability to lead change positively and collaboratively.
* Collaborative work style across organizational levels.
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, open-minded, adaptable, and team-oriented.
