Clinical Nurse Manager III - Decontamination Lead Permanent Contract, Full time Hours The Clinical Nurse Manager III (CNM3) Decontamination Lead will report to the ADON Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and is professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing of Mercy University Hospital (MUH). The CNM3 will work closely with Consultant Microbiologist and IPC team as well liaising with the wider nursing/medical/health and social care professional teams. Purpose of CNM3 Decontamination Lead Role The CNM3 Decontamination Lead role shall encompass all aspects of decontamination in MUH. The CNM3 will coordinate all decontamination processes within MUH and with external decontamination providers, and ensure that the hospital operates within the HSE Code of Practice for Reusable Invasive Medical Devices (RIMD) Decontamination across all areas of its operations. The CNM3 will ensure that decontamination standards are applied and maintained in all units including Theatres, Endoscopy, Urology, Radiology and Pain Services. Responsibilities include: Drive and support the implementation of the National Standards and recommended practices for decontamination, EU Directives, EU Standards, JAG Standards and Quality Systems for medical devices in each hospital decontamination facilities within MUH, maximising patient safety and minimising the risk of transmission of infection. Provide clear and consistent leadership to personnel working in decontamination within MUH. Plan, implement and monitor ISO Quality Management systems in decontamination facilities within MUH. Have a thorough understanding of systems for decontamination. Ensure, in collaboration with each relevant department lead, that quality improvement plans are designed to support actions that are needed to achieve compliance to mandatory and best practice standard. Take a proactive role in the formation and provision of evidence based Policies, Procedures, Protocols and guidelines (PPPGs) relating to IPC. Contribute to service development through appropriate continuous education, research initiatives, keeping up to date with new developments in hygiene and decontaminationstrategies. Devise and support the development of an education plan for all decontamination personnel within MUH. Ensure that effective safety procedures are developed and managed to comply with statutory obligations. Be aware of risk management issues, identify risks and take appropriate action. Comply with the policies, procedures and safe professional practice of the Irish Healthcare System by adhering to relevant legislation, regulations and standards. Eligibility Criteria - Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: Are registered in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives, as appropriate, maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI / Bord Altranais agus Cnimhseachais na hireann). Have 5 years post registration nursing experience and 2 years recent nursing management experience at a minimum of CNM2 in an acute setting. Possess a post graduate qualification at not less than Level 8 (QQI) Health Care or Management related area. Candidates must possess the requisite clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the office. Post graduate qualification in Decontamination or be willing to undertake same is desirable. Post graduate qualification in IPC is desirable. Management course is desirable.
