Freelance Commissioning Engineer – MV Protection
We’re currently seeking an experienced Freelance Commissioning Engineer to support a short-term MV protection commissioning assignment within a data center project based in Dublin.
Role overview
Commissioning and testing of medium-voltage protection relays
Use of vendor configuration software and secondary injection test equipment
Execution of protection testing and on-site commissioning activities
Completion of commissioning documentation and reports
Ability to work efficiently to agreed daily targets (1 relay completed per day as a minimum, a total of 36 relays will be commissioned)
Requirements
Proven experience in MV protection relay commissioning
Strong background working with modern numerical relays
Hands‑on secondary injection testing experience
Comfortable operating in a freelance / contract environment
EU passport and ability to travel (increases likelihood of extension)
Test reports (Omicron / commissioning reports)
Updated relay configuration files (if applicable)
Snag/issue list (if applicable)
Test Equipment Required
Omicron CMC 353 or equivalent, capable of providing two sets of three‑phase current injection for differential protection testing.
(this can be provided but, is preferred that the candidate supplies this themselves)
Initial duration: ~2 weeks, with strong potential to extend
