Job Description
The Senior AI Technician will lead the organisation's AI strategy by enabling staff to leverage AI features in Microsoft 365 Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and other enterprise systems, while also designing and deploying advanced AI solutions across multiple platforms. This includes developing custom AI solutions on the enterprise data warehouse using Microsoft Fabric and other in-house frameworks, implementing document recognition technologies, and identifying new business cases where AI can deliver measurable value. The role combines technical expertise, solution development, and adoption leadership to ensure AI drives innovation and efficiency across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
AI Training & Adoption
* Deliver training programmes on AI features in Microsoft 365 Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
* Act as the internal AI champion, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of AI adoption.
Optimising AI in Enterprise Applications
* Identify and enhance AI capabilities within ERP, BIM, and other core systems.
* Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to integrate AI-driven workflows and automation.
Development of AI Solutions
* Design, build, and deploy AI/ML models leveraging Microsoft Fabric and the enterprise data lake.
* Develop and maintain in-house AI solutions for document recognition and intelligent data extraction using technologies such as YOLOv8, Detectron2, and Tesseract OCR.
* Identify and implement additional business use cases where AI can improve processes, reduce costs, or create new capabilities.
* Partner with data engineers to ensure data readiness and quality for AI initiatives.
* Deliver predictive analytics and actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
Governance & Compliance
* Ensure responsible AI use, adhering to data privacy, security, and ethical standards.
Performance & Reporting
* Define KPIs for AI adoption and solution performance; provide regular progress reports to the CIO.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
* Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365 AI features within Office applications.
* Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, data lakes, and AI/ML model development.
* Proficiency in Python, SQL, and AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
* Strong communication and training skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
* Experience in change management and digital adoption programmes.
* Familiarity with construction or engineering softwares / workflows.
* Knowledge of AI governance and compliance frameworks.
* 5 - 7 years practical experience
