Overview

Role
Lead and deliver geomorphology or hydromorphology related project tasks in Ireland, the UK and/or internationally.
Work closely with technical specialists based across Ireland and the UK.
Design and develop methods and proposals for restoring, maintaining or creating water courses to meet ecological status.
Lead project tasks and possibly entire projects through problem definition, data collection, analysis, interpretation and drawing conclusions and recommendations.
Provide evidence of developing new and innovative approaches.
Qualifications
Degree in science, engineering or mathematics; ideally a postgraduate qualification in hydromorphology or geomorphology.
Significant field and hands‑on practical experience of hydromorphological assessment of river channels and water courses.
Demonstrable experience as a hydromorphologist within consultancy, water company, regulator or academic fields.
Experience in natural flood management, nature restoration, channel creation, maintenance and management.
Good understanding of Irish hydromorphology, including the arterial drainage maintenance programme and the operational and environmental regulatory framework of Irish water management.
Excellent numerical, analytical, report‑writing and presentational skills.
Highly motivated, proactive and able to solve challenging water resources problems within a high‑achieving team environment.
Effective communication at all levels and the ability to build high‑quality client relationships.
Valid full, clean, Irish driving licence.
About You
Ability to survey, assess, appraise and report on the state of hydromorphology in water courses and water bodies.
Knowledge and understanding of key hydromorphology issues and their drivers in an Irish context.
Experience of working for an environmental consultancy firm, including costing work, preparing technical and financial aspects of tenders, interpretation of data, reporting and communication.
