Location:

Purpose of Role:
To lead and support the delivery of high-quality social care services to children, young people, families, and carers, in line with Tusla's Prevention, Partnership & Family Support, Child Protection & Welfare, and Alternative Care strategies. The role involves supervising social care staff, implementing care plans, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and supervise social care staff and/or family support practitioners.
* Work directly with children, young people, and families to identify needs, build resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.
* Support care planning, safety planning, and access visits in line with Children First guidelines.
* Promote the participation of children and young people in decisions that affect them.
* Liaise with education, training, accommodation, and welfare resources to ensure appropriate supports.
* Ensure compliance with Tusla policies, child protection procedures, HIQA standards, and relevant legislation.
* Maintain accurate case records and prepare reports for court, reviews, and case conferences.
* Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and professional forums.
* Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and unconditional positive regard for service users.
Essential Requirements:
* Registered with CORU as a Social Care Worker
or
hold a CORU-approved Social Care Worker qualification with evidence of application for registration.
* Minimum
3 years' post-qualification experience
working in a Children & Families service or similar environment.
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* In-depth knowledge of child protection, alternative care, and family support practices.
* Full driving licence and access to own transport.
Desirable:
* Supervisory experience in a social care setting.
* Experience working within a statutory child protection or alternative care service.
* Familiarity with Tusla policies, HIQA standards, and inter-agency collaboration.
Pay Rate:
Agency rates in line with the public sector Social Care Leader scale (€50,653 – €60,823 per annum pro-rata, plus agency premium where applicable).
Working Pattern:
28.8 hours per week (0.7 WTE), part-time schedule to be agreed with the service.
